Get Our Act Together’ on World Sustainable Housing Day – 9th September’07, 5.00 PM
At the outset, allow me to once again extend my heartiest gratitude for the immense interest shown by your goodself and the trouble taken by you to come and actively participate in our conference “Sustainable Living ’07. The credit of the success of the conference goes entirely to the eminent panelists, jury members of all the competitions, the volunteers and the public. And this support from you has given us immense confidence and encouragement to “carry on” with the task of trying to ensure ‘Ecological Literacy for All’. And in this regard we wish to bring to your kind notice a few of our observations.
95% of the panelists (Confirmed) came and attended the conference and the panel discussions were highly informative and thought provoking.
95% of the heads of the govt. organizations responded very well and some of them even partly sponsored the event. But the attendance of the employees from govt. organizations was very less. We had contacted 155 organizations and sent invitations to 400 Government offices.
99% of the Architecture fraternity was absent. We sent e-mails, phoned and sent letters to 600 Architectural firms and also sent 200 invitations. The response from the colleges of Architecture was also not very encouraging. Out of the 161 Architectural colleges, only 12 participated in the design competition.
As far as schools and students (below 17 yrs) participation is concerned 72 children participated in the quiz, essay and painting competition from 12 schools.
The public participation or audience was very less. We had contacted 26 Residents welfare Associations, put up 1000 posters all across Bangalore and distributed 5000 pamphlets to the public through Newspapers, in Cubbon park, Lalbagh and Energy Park.
30 brouchers were sent to Press club to advertise in the news papers on every Saturday, from 26th may to 30th June prior to the conference. We also addressed a press conference 3 days before the event to publicize the event to ensure public participation.

The above facts have proved one thing to us that we have a “good number of people” who are truly and completely dedicated to this cause and have already been working for this cause for several years in their own domains or spheres.
How would it be to “Get Our Act Together” and move forward? Whether we can do it? If yes, then how should we go about it?
To find answers to these questions we request the pleasure of your company for a small ‘Get – together’ in the evening on 9th September ’07. We will intimate the exact time and venue in a few days time.
A line of confirmation by mail or sms at the earliest would be highly appreciated, so that the venue can be decided on the basis of the number of confirmations. Suggestions are welcome.
    Thanking you in anticipation
    With regards
